The Presentation of the European Cup Disabled in Modena
Great attendance, enthusiasm and a programme which attracted the national journalists' attention (and not only them) were the ingredients of the formal presentation of the Final European Cup Alpine Skiing Disabled 5 - Memorial Hans Erlacher, which took place in Modena on 30th and 31st November, organized by the Ski Club 2. It took place on the occasion of the Modena Fair and was held in the Fvg Tourism stand.
During the presentation a video, containing some of the most important moments of the previous competitions organized (2007 World Championships are the latest), was projected and leaflets were given out, showing the programme of the event (which is scheduled from 11th to 14th February, on the snow fields of Tolmezzo), press releases of the previous events and advanced information about the “excellent” participants, which this year too will brighten up the Friuli Venezia Giulia skiing.
As previously said, in 2010 the competitions will have their headquarters in Tolmezzo and Arta Terme, where not only the races but also side events are going to take place. Over these days, the Ski Club 2, together with local and regional administrators, has been organizing the series of events for the four days of races.
The programme: on Thursday 11th February arrival of teams to Arta Terme, accommodation in hotels and Team Captain meeting; on Friday 12th Super Combined-Super Giant Slalom and Super Combined-Slalom. On Saturday Giant Slalom, followed by dinner and a big party for the athletes. On Sunday, the last day, Slalom and final prizegiving on mount Zoncolan. Four days of races, parties and events; teams from all over Europe are also expected, including some of the best-known names of the international sports world.
All this follows the path that has been paved by the Ski Club 2 over the past years: in fact, 2010 is not the first year in which finals have been organized in Friuli Venezia Giulia under the guidance of the sports association of Monfalcone: the first meeting was the World University Games in 2003 on mount Zoncolan, followed by the Italian Cup (2004), the European Cup (2005), the Final European Cup (2006) and the Final World Cup (2007), in which there was a parade of over 20 countries in Piazza Unità d'Italia, side events, meetings and promotional campaigns concerning physical disability.
